The Edge of Realms is a world featured on Once Upon a Time. It only appears in the fourth episode of the seventh season.

The Edge of Realms is loosely based on Paradise Falls from the Disney/Pixar movie Up.

Background

History

After Fourth Curse

Hoping to free himself of his Dark One curse, Rumplestiltskin and Belle finds their way to the Edge of Realms. Together, they build a home for themselves as they await for the curse to break. One day, Gideon returns from Elphame Academy to visit his parents and returns shortly after. ("Beauty")

As time passes on, Belle starts to age but Rumplestiltskin remains the same due to being the Dark One. As Belle reaches old age, she tells him about the prophecy that she depicted years back, revealing that she concealed a part of the prophecy to preserve their time together. On her deathbed, Belle assures him that he will break the curse and one day reunite with her in the afterlife. Belle dies and moves on into Mount Olympus while Rumplestiltskin mourns her death. Gideon returns again to mourn his mother and lay her to rest. Hoping to free his father from the curse, Gideon offers to take on the curse. However, Rumplestiltskin declines the offer, not wanting to lose another son because of his curse. After Belle's funeral, the two bid farewell as Gideon returns to Elphame Academy and Rumplestiltskin goes to New Fairy Tale Land. ("Beauty")
